images/kg.jpg Some believe theakers re Los Angeles Lcently won their 15th NBA championship for their clear dominance in the frontcourt. The trio of Lamar Odom, Pau Gasol and Andrew Bynum (all of who stand 7 feet tall with shoes on) gave the Lakers the best combination of size and talent in all the NBA...that is until the Celtics made perhaps the most impactful free agent splash of the summer. Last Sunday the Celtics landed Rasheeeed Wallace.
Just a few days ago, Bill Strickland, Wallace's agent told the Boston Globe and the Boston Herald, that he Wallace would not be joining the San Antonio Spurs, but that he would be joining the "big three" and taking his services to Bean Town. Now the argument must be made, which powerhouse has the "betta bigs?" The Celtics are now comin with Sheed, Kendrick Perkins, and oh yea, what looks to be like a healthy Kevin Garnet. Is it the new and improved Celtics, Or the Lakers big trio of Odom, Gasol and Bynum.
The answer is...? Well its not that simple. The xfactor, "the decider" in this comparsion is 21 year old Lakers Center Andrew Bynum. Which Bynum will the Lakers get next year. Will be seeing the Bynum who is coming off two consectutive knee injuries and at times been reduced to no more than a role player with good interior defense?...Or will they get a healthy Bynum who at other times has made strides towards becoming one of the future elitie center for years to come (that's what Mitch Kupcheck is paying him to be). There are instances where it appears that the teachings of Kareem Abdul Jabar have rubbed off on Bynum, and if he can stay healthy and continues to improve his skill set, you almost have to give the edge to the reigning champs on this one. Thet way I see it is this. GARNET VS. GASOL (advantage Garnet). RASHEED vs. Odom (advantage Odom, Sheed's getting up there in age), and The matchup of Perkins vs.Bynum will be the ultimate tiebreaker. Stay tuned basketball fans.
