Welcome to DebateSports.com!

Find out how DebateSports.com works and how you can win cash prizes monthly just for showcasing your sports knowledge!

DebateSports allows you to earn points and sports prestige by the following:

It is recommended that (1) you read all the way through these explanations 1st to find out how you can earn points and win money at DebateSports.com and (2) open a new window or tab in the browser you are using so you can follow along how it all works. The following will go over each tab that is at the top of the DebateSports.com website, and also explain what is within each tab and how you can get atop the leaderboard and win money. NOTE: Inside this website it is very competetive, and only the best deserve and will win the prize money.

(1) "Home"    Click this tab and it will take you to the DebateSports.com homepage, simple as that.

(2) "Sports Debates"        Click this tab and it will take you to all the sports debates we have to offer. At DebateSports.com we currently offer the following sports for you to debate on: NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, College, Tennis, UFC, Golf and Boxing. Scroll down and view the different debate topics. Click on one of the debate topics, for example under "NBA", select "What are the best NBA cities?" Now from here you will see certain topics users have created. You can either view someones topic, by clicking it and debate that topic, or you can create your own topic by selecting the "Create New Debate" button, and do that now. From here put in your "Debate Heading", anything that will stir up a debate with others and then type in your debate under "Message" and "submit" it. Now here is the first time where we have encountered how you can earn points. Also, "Sports Debates" is where you will earn the majority of your points, and points are needed to be atop the leaderboard as well as a chance at winning the prize money (which is explained later). Ok, so now you have seen someone elses debate and how you can create your very own, so how to get points? Our staff at DebateSports.com monitors the debates everyday and will award a user a certain amount of points by the following:

(a) for a good debate topic   (b) for a good point   (c) for a good rebuttal against someone's point   (d) for using stats

The DebateSports.com staff are dedicated sports fans and have a vast amount of knowledge in these sports, and we feel that we are extremely fair in awarding points. There will be times when you disagree with the amount of points you recieved, however, suck it up because you can't waste your time on every little point.

Continuing on with "Sports Debates", as this is where you can win the most points possible on this website by participating in Head to Head debates. As you have already scrolled down the different sports categories, you most certainly have seen debate topics labeled "Head to Head". In these you debate another user one on one on a certain sports topic supplied by us. You will have to sign up for these Head to Head matches which you can do under the "Events" tab (explained more in detailed below). This Head to Head debate can be viewed by all users, and only the users of this website can and will vote on who the winner is. Each debate will be worth a certain amount of points and the points will be awarded as follows:

Example: Head to Head- Kobe or Lebron, who's better? (Worth 50 points). Lets say the users voted and you got 76% of the vote. Therefore you will recieve 76% of the total points, in this example 76% of 50 points. You also will recieve a win bonus, which is 10 points or otherwise noted. Remember, the DebateSports.com staff has no say in Head to Head debates, only your fellow users, so make friends quickly.

(3) "All Sports"    Click this tab and it will take you to all the sports we have to offer you (also if you scroll your mouse over "All Sports" all the sports will drop down). For this example, click on NBA. You are now brought to the NBA homepage. Every single sports homepage is set up like this one. Here you will see another tab located at the top of the homepage. "NBA Home" will take you to the homepage. By clicking "Debates" it will take you to a page with all the NBA debates we have to offer you, the same debates which will be found under "Sports Debates". The next tab is very important, "Articles". Here are articles that have been written by our users, and is another great way to earn points (just keep reading). You can comment on one's article and make sure to be fair because that user who created an article is awarded points based on the quality of the article and your comments of the article (good or bad). Remember though, your articles will be judged by that same user you are judging, just be fair but also don't go to soft on anybody. The next tab on the homepage is "Trivia". Here you can take a timed trivia on a certain sport and you will be awarded points for each correct answer. "Polls" are all the polls within a certain sport. By clicking "Polls" you can see if other users have the same opinion as you, or if you know something a little better than they do (no points are awarded for answering polls, sorry). "Submit Debate" is the same thing as "Create New Debate" explained under the "Sports Debates" section. However, it will be under the topic of "Create a NBA Debate" (if you are still on the NBA homepage of course). If your debate gains popularity, you will receive points and your debate will be published with the bigger name debates as you saw earlier when you scrolled through each sports category. Next is "Submit Article" and this is where you will write your article. It does first have to get approved by the DebateSports.com staff before anyone else can see it, so the more time you put into it, the more points.

Now lets take a little breather. Your probably asking yourself what is up with all these points? Well, your main objective is to gain as many points for a given month so you have a chance at winning the cash prize, and as of right now it is of $200. As this website gains more popularity, the cash amount will increase and be given out more frequently. Now don't be discouraged if you never reach 1st on the leaderboard because it is not automatic that the user in 1st place will win the cash prize. We award the prize to the lottery winner. That's right, just like the NBA does it. More will be explained below, lets keep moving on for now.

(4) "Trivia"    Click the "Trivia" tab and it will take you to its homepage. Here you will see two tabs on this homepage, "All Sports Trivia" and "Individual Sports".  "All Sports Trivia" is broken up into 3 different categories. First, "Ultimate Trivia" is a combo of old school, new school and all sports trivia questions, and since it is the hardest one, it is worth the most points (and of course it is timed!). Next is "Old School", which includes all sports from back in the day. "New School" has all new sports trivia questions, and it too includes all sports. Under "Individual Sports" you will see all the sports. These are the same trivia questions that are presented on each specific sports homepage, and no you can't take the trivia more than once.

(5) "Live Chat"    Click the "Live Chat" tab and it will take you to our chat room. Here certain sports tabs are set up for you to freely talk. Stir up an argument with someone, and yes you will earn points for it. Our DebateSports.com staff will watch the chat rooms and award points to you (we will follow the same guidelines as above, under "Sports Debates" tab). Also, there will be live trivia presented here, and whoever answers the question the quickest will be awarded points. The dates for when live trivia will happen will be posted under "Events".

(6) "Events"    Click the "Events" tab and you will see all the upcoming events we have to offer you. Here is where you also can sign up for Head to Head debates. Make sure to check this periodically as events may change or new ones may be added at anytime.

(7) "Standings"    Click the "Standings" tab and you will see the current standings. You can also click on a username and view their profile (discussed next).

(8) "Profile"    Click the "Profile" tab and you will see your unique profile. Here you can view how articles you have written and how many friends you have.

(9) "How it all works!"    Click this tab and it sends you right back to this page explaining everything.

Ok, now you know how DebateSports.com works! NOTE: Points are not awarded every day, but are awarded 2-3 times a week, so please do not be discouraged if you have not received your points right away. So now you have all these points you won, what to do now? Well, every month DebateSports.com gives away the grand prize to the lottery winner. Just because you were in 1st does not mean you automatically win the prize, and just because you were in last does not automatically mean you do not win the grand prize. But whoever is in 1st place for a certain week will have better odds at winning the grand prize than anyone else. Here is how it breaks down:

1st place has a %50 chance at winning the grand prize.

2nd place has a %25 chance at winning the grand prize.

3rd place has a %10 chance at winning the grand prize.

4th- %5 chance

5th- %3 chance

6th- %2.5 chance

7th- %2 chance

8th- %1 chance

9th- %0.75 chance

10th- %0.50 chance

Chance- %0.25     What is chance? It means that if you were not in the top ten, well, you still have a chance. If "Chance" is selected than a player whom was not in the top ten is chosen randomly to win the grand prize. But your chances are not very good this will happen so make sure you are in the top ten!
