The Giants Kung Fu Panda was overlooked this year for the All-Star roster. Shane Victorino of the Phillies overtook Sandoval for the 33rd roster spot on the NL All-Star team. I think the fans made a mistake by voting in Victorino. Victorino is a great player but does not have the numbers Sandoval has. Sandoval is hitting .328 with 13 home runs and 50 RBI’s He has 97 hits and is slugging at .561. All of these numbers are leading the Giants offensive production. Victorino is also having a good year but compared to the Panda’s numbers, he comes up short. Victorino is hitting .306 with only 6 home runs and 42 RBI’s and slugging .463.

Let us also not forget that the Giants have the second best record in the NL going into Friday’s matchups. Giants are a surprise team mostly because of their team pitching, but also because of Sandoval. If it was not for his production at the plate the Giants would not have the 47-38 record they have today and would not have the majors best home record at 29-14. Many people also forget that this kid is only 22 years old and has showed he can hit at every level. He has continued to show great poise and only looks to be getting better as the season goes on.

To be an All-Star I think it is also important to be a solid field player. This game is not all about offense, someone should have told the steroid users that. Sandoval is a natural catcher, who is playing third and first base. He rarely gets to be behind the plate becasue the Giants second biggest weapon behind the plate is Bengie Molina. Sandoval has been solid on defense where ever manager Bochy decides to put him. Sandoval does have three errors at first base and four at third base. But if you take away his one bad game where he had three errors in one game and two on one play, he has been more then solid on the field. Yes Victorino only has one error all season thus far but is playing his natural position of center field.

Overall I believe that the Giants Sandoval got snubbed out of this years All-Star game. But don’t worry Giant fans like I said earlier he is only 22 years old and seems to be getting better and better.
